Paul's Story...
Scotland v Croatia 1/9/01 - My trip to Glasgow, by Paul age 12

I was so excited when I first got up I dressed very quickly. I had my breakfast and left the house at 7.45am. I got on the bus with the other people, then we set off for Glasgow. We stopped for lunch on the way and I had four cheese rolls, two bottles of Irn Bru, three packets of crisps, a bag of sweets and, by the time I finished I was needing the toilet. We got fuel and set off again.

We got to Glasgow two hours later and the city was massive. When we got to the football stadium it was hard to find a parking space. There were many people and we eventually got off the bus. There were people selling Scotland flags, scarves, glasses and hats too. They all cost round about five pounds each, I bought a tartan scarf. When we got into the football stadium, we went to look for our seats. They were in Rows B and C near the front. After about half an hour the match kicked off. Everyone was cheering for Scotland waving their Scotland flags and scarves and singing songs.

At half time, some of us went to the toilet or for something to eat. Early into the second half a streaker ran on to the park, all he was wearing was a sporran! He ran around, shook all the Scotland players' hands, and then ran off again. The Police caught him and he was arrested. After all the excitement we sat back down and watched the rest of the match. There was no goals in the match.

On the way home we went to McDonald's for tea. I had a Happy Meal, large coke and a McFlurry, it was a caramel one and it was delicious! We set off back to our small village called Golspie and got home about 10 o'clock.

At the end of the day it was one of the most brilliant days of my life!
